Spadezer's News

Posted by Spadezer - March 1st, 2021

It's finally happened! It's been the highest milestone to date, a lowly but honorable number.

Coming right off the heels of a project I'm proud to be apart of, the RogueBot Rumble game for the Newgrounds Flash Forward Jam. Go check them out because there's a lot of cool stuff there I bet.

So to celebrate, and aside from finishing and uploading currently completed stuff that I have, I will be recreating and bringing new life to a song that I've made in my first year of posting all the way back in 2014. Not only would this be a fun project to try just for the heck of it, but it would be a display of what is possible across 6 years of experience and learning in being a hobby music producer. There's whole list of people that have led me to this point, but the biggest learning experiences I would have to say would be during the Newgrounds audio contests, and those of which wouldn't be possible with those people. People like @JohnnyGuy @echo @TaintedLogic @johnfn @ChronoNomad are especially people I'd reach out with a warm gratitude for helping either create or continue the community that I've grown to love and appreciate without shame. Even just in the audio community it's changed ways I've viewed and listened to music, and it's helped me make friendships that wouldn't be possible in my own circle of friends, and it even helped me find people that live just within an hour or two away. I don't always recommend connecting with random strangers, but it's definitely a lot of fun to meet fellow Newgrounders face to face.

As for the future, I don't intend to stray away from working on music. If anything I use this also as a platform to find possible connections for future music opportunities. Working on RogueBot Rumble was a nice introduction to working on a cross functional team of people for a game project, and I hope that those reading this could think of possible opportunities in the future. Or if it leads me down that path enough, might be a good side hustle opportunity. I'm not one to advertise myself, but if you reading this think of an opportunity, let me know. k thanks ;)

Hi Newgrounds

First of all big thanks to all of the judges in NGUAC. This includes @TaintedLogic @Bosa @Cheshyre @EndK @Everratic @Jacob @Samulis @SplatterDash I highly appreciate their work in any and all contests they judge. Also props particularly to @VociferousMusic @WolfgangMiakoda @dude2312 and @MrKoolTrix . Everyone in this round of the contest deserves a sub even if I didn't mention them specifically, but I know you guys put specifically good effort into this round. I'll be making sure that you all have a sub from me after this post. I wish I could have had a little more time available outside of the NGADM to work on my final round, but I'm really surprised how well my song was received by everyone here.

As for some self promotion, I'm excited for what I've got planned coming down the pipe. The NGADM is well under way at this point and I'm excited to see what all people will do for this round. We're definitely going to see some good battles here. As for myself I'm going to be starting with some work that's a little outside of Newgrounds. I've got some ideas for trying out covers and I think they'll be a lot of fun to try. I'm also looking for opportunities to collab so if I see them I'll make sure to PM people as I go.

This is also going to be a large effort to make some income off of my music hobby. As I'm typing this I have one song on the CDbaby online store. That website is going to be my main hub for digital distribution which is putting me on just about anything you can stream or download music from. Kind of a cool gig. They also will be handling royaltees involved with those that I will be doing covers of so that will get rid of a big headache for me and put me in a new freedom I haven't exploited yet. Just about all of the music I've made this year up to this point will be organized into a collection that I'll release as a Spadezer Album. I'm really happy with the quality I'm making now and I'm hoping others will be helping to showcase me and bring in some more people to grow my fanbase. Those of you already here, I thank you and highly appreciate you, and I hope you encourage others to do the same.

Expect there to be more music coming from me this next season. I'll be showcasing them here and on my Youtube channel. I'll be looking to get more involved in spotify and maybe even on a label or two. We'll see.

Anyways, thanks for taking the time to read this, and if you did, tell me your favorite ice cream flavor :) I like cookies and cream the most!

Peace be with you!

Hey guys! Figured I'd update my wall so it's not over a year old.

Instead of being a judge for both NGUAC and NGADM this year, I'm only judging the NGADM. I was inspired last year to make competitive music instead of just observing it. I think this year is my strongest writing to date so I'm aiming to be a force to be reckoned with in the contest. Look out fellow underdogs =)

After the contest I do have some plans I want to set in motion. I'm looking to create more of a presence online. Not simply Youtube which will by my personal sharing platform of choice, but I'm looking to expand to other digital media. I've been exposed to using CDbaby as a digitial distribution platform and I've already tested it out to see where it goes. You can find one of my songs currently on your music platform of choice like spotify, amazon music, Itunes, you name it (but couldn't figure out how to get it to work on Pandora though... so maybe not streaming platforms yet??) Either way, I expect to get involved with this community more to help support effort so you'll be seeing me around here more often too.

And one of the ways I'm thinking about, is by possibly starting a monthly Newgrounds Audio podcast. I can see it being kinda fun, and a good place for Newgrounders to share their background, their ambitions, there music, or the like. Might play around with other fun activities with that if there's some support with that.

So, hopefully I won't be disappearing after NGADM, and my plan is to get some other people to stick around too and keep active with chatting with each other. Cya round peeps

Hello Newgrounders. I see that you're one of the lucky few to come across my page. Congrats and welcom

I'll start off by saying I was happy to take part in this year's NGADM contest hosted by the humble @ChronoNomad and @TaintedLogic. I'm happy to say that out of the 200+ auditioners that I can be called one of the top 16 in the contest. On that note, I suggest taking a visit over to RetromanOMG's page. He does a pretty good job.

http://retromanomg.newgrounds.com/

I will say though, it's been nice to get back to life outside of music. Trying to do work and the contest at the same time made it really easy to ignore stuff like what state my house was in. I needed to take a break from all of that. That doesn't mean I'm done with music though. I'll be looking to really improve my sound design and make my music overall better somehow. Not sure how I'm going to do that but I'll always enjoy making music and that's what I'll do.

In the mean time - I'll be looking to getting a better channel booted up on Youtube and on bandcamp. I've got someone helping me out with some cover art that I'm excited to see. We've both been busy so it's been a slowly progressing milestone. He's also from Florida so I know the hurricanes aren't helping out much there right now. Thoughts and prayers for him.

I'll be around. Feel free to send a PM or whatever. Peace out and good luck to those still in the NGADM.,

I feel that I've been overdue for an update, so I decided to make an update.

In case you haven't heard, I'm proud to say that I completed 3rd place in AIM. Woo! I'm happy since it's only my second attempt at the contest. I feel like I'm bragging and I apologize, but I'm excited, especially since this somewhat aligns for what I have planned for my music this year.

I've always had a love for music in school, and I feel that it comes quite naturally to me. If I made it my career I problably could have been successful, but the beginning years after school I know wouldn't be fun without a steady paycheck. So I became an engineer, and that decision has led me to where I am today. College was tough, but I've made the best of friends and I know that God has granted a steady path for me to really pursue some important intersts for me.

I don't have many regrets of choosing what I've done, and it brings me to where I am today. This year has been particularly interesting. I've now lived a quarter of a century, I'm also now living on my own having just recently moved, and have entered a new position at work which by most accounts is basically a dream job.

Which leads me to what's going on with my music and future planning. I feel that now is the time for me to buckle down and crank out some good tunes. The past year or so has been me working up my production quality so that I can sound professional. I feel that I've hit a good solid point that people (mostly me) can listen to my music without cringing too much at things like bad mixing or poor ntsrument choices. My next goal was to work up a decent repituar that I can post places so that people can be like "Oh man this is good! I need to listen to what else he's got." AIM was the first step in that plan and NGADM is step two.

Next steps is to go commercial which is what I'm the most anxious about. I know I'll do Youtube, and I'll likely do Bandcamp since I see a lot of people do that. Maybe, just maybe if I'm good enough, I plan on getting on Monstercat. Here's to hoping. I'm on the outlook of how to get into other outlets, like getting my music onto Spotify or Google music and Itunes. Bottom line is get my free stuff now before I get big. Lol.

Well, that's my story right now. Life's getting busy and I'm still working on getting the rest of my life setup. For now, peace out, and look for me at the NGADM. That in itself will be interesting since I have a work trip and a vacation that will cut down two of my rounds in it to effectively only having one week to make a piece. Woohoo fun.

Word.

Super excited!    8D

I've been really busy at work this past July which kinda sucked, but it meant that I got some good overtime. With that I've bought myself a copy of FL Studio and a couple of other things. I now can make the EDM and orchestral music I've been wanting to do. Yay!

A little dissapointed that there wasn't a NGADM competition to compete in this year, but I may have missed the deadline anyway with how busy I was. I'll be looking forward to the next batch of competitions that happen next year though.

Also, if you are looking for someone to make video game / video music, I have no problem helping out. :)

Look out Newgrounds. I'm ready now.

For you few who may have accidentlly stumbled accross my post, hello! And I'm almost back from falling off of the face of the planet.

And I need to buy a DAW. Reason being, I've made a super boss computer, but was only working the last half of last year. Then the holiday came around which while paying off my student loans and not getting full paychecks have left me slim on buying things that I need. But the new year is here and I can soon afford things. So my master plan is to look at buying a version of Ableton, or at least trying the free demo to see how much I like it, and then start getting myself to composing here by the summer. I don't expect to be completly ready for this year's NGADM but it's too far away to make any predictions yet.

Anywho, talk to you soon, or see you soon, or whatever. If you've stumbled across my post.

Yeah  -Spadezer-

I was beaten competing in the second round of the NGADM '14. I'm proud of the fact that I was able to get into the second round for my first ever in a NGADM and it has been only my second contest on Newgrounds. Although I hate to come across as bragging, I'm happy I've been given the opportunity to participate in a super contest with an awesome community.

Obviously since it's over, I won't be making music nearly as often, however I plan on putting out another piece before my school starts in October (since I go to a special Engineering college, we're special like that). After that, I don't expect to be putting anything else up until the end of the year. I have one term left with five classes and I want to attempt to graduate with flying colors. I need to have the least amount of commitments possible for that, and sadly music will have to be put on hold. After that, I will be a free(er) graduate bachelor and will attempt to party.

I highly enjoyed the contest and I will be back. My goal is next time to make it to the semi-finals before losing.

Good luck to the rest of the contestants because they're doing awesome stuff.

Yay! I'm currently in the second round of NGADM. With how busy I've been, it's been hard to get into everyone who was participating and finding people to follow. With that aside, I've found a lot of people I've wanted to follow now (and I'm happy to those who've fuond me interesting.

Hopefully I'll be able to participate in the next round or so before school gets underway. Once October hits though, I'm not going to be able to participate too well. Essentially I'm saying that I hope I don't have to forfeit from my position before I get really busy. Understand that my school takes 16 weeks of classes them and condesnes them into 11. Also this will be my last term and having five classes is not going to be a picnic.

Anyway, enough of the tanget. Good luck to all of those still in the contest and will see who comes out as the better composer/mixer/awesome guy. I'm happy to have gotten this far on my first try.

I'm done with school for the summer! I missed being able to make good music, but the wait is over!

So be on the look out
