[AIM - Crash and Fade]

This does a good job creating the atmosphere of the planet. A bit of the unknown and unsettling, and I can see it working great as a sci-fi game level. Very ambient

But where it falls I'm afraid is that it may not tell the story of the picture so much. It doesn't do much about what the pilot may be thinking or feeling among the planet. It doesn't give the sense of despair that the pilot may be thinking, or the acceptance of inevitable death. It might hurt your score, it might not. I'll leave that up to RealFaction.

By itself it isn't a bad ambient piece. The mixing is decent and brings along a cool feeling with it.

Thanks for the feedback! I do tend towards pretty ambient production so I'm not surprised this is how it ended up, I'm glad it gets across the planet atmosphere well. It's a shame about the pilot's story not coming through as well as I'd like, though I'll admit I'm not too sure on how to do that better. Any tips you have would be appreciated!

I'm highly impressed. I was not expecting this from you. What I really is that you kept it for the most part in one key. Normally not a great thing to do, but considering where this guy would be coming from (likely from Northern Scotland given the attire and facial features) there would likely be some bagpipe influence with the cord structure. I'd wager it's in the key of D just on that point alone.

You get the flavor of the setting of the picture, and more impressively, you mixed his background into the mix as well. And your skills have improved since the last time I paid attention to you last.

Good to hear from you again. I like the style of this too. Not what I would expect from you, but I'm quite ok with this. With how it's bright and chill and just lets you sink into a feeling close to going to bed at night.

Pretty top notch stuff. For some reason, and I'm not sure exactly why, this makes me think that if they remade the Dragon Bruce Lee story from the Super Nintendo that the music would sound like this. I remember liking it a lot.

I like this a lot. It's like 90's video game synths with some funky jazz (unfortunately that's all I can think up for genres). That's besides the point though. I like what you're doing with this. It definitely highlights your abilities with composition and it's a bit farther than where you've come from. The mixing is quite solid too. I'd say with this piece you have a good fighting chance to continue on. I wouldn't say it's a solid chance, I'm not going to pick this apart like the judges will, but at least be proud of this piece. Not many people will be able to put something like this together on their own.

Yay! Mixing is something I haven't been *quite* up to par with in comparison to my competition.

It means a lot to hear that from you. :D To be honest though, I think even saying that I have a good fighting chance is stretching it when you listen to my competition T.T I honestly wouldn't be surprised if JacobCadmus, JustinOfSuburbia, and Jabicho (am I encroaching upon the J group?) take the top three spots in any order. My personal goal is to beat a score of 7.5, since that's the score I got for my piece in the NGAUC. :P
